My First Post

Finally in Brazil, a few days in Sao Paulo, offically the largest city I have ever seen in my entire life. As the plane approached the city I looked out of the window and saw a sprawling metropolitan area and thought to myself this is huge, at least 5 times the Twin Cities. Then the plane turned and I saw that I was looking a the slightest portion of Sao Paulo, It went for miles, literally from horizon to horizon there was concrete and sporadic apartment buildings rising admist tightly packed house with red roofs. The largest city in South America.
Anway, now in Prudente things are in full swing and I, being here for a only the week and half I have, can say that I am still in the middle of aclimating to life in Brazil. The first week was a bumpy ride as I came up against the language barrier right of the bat. The Lord has been teaching me and encouraging me through the community here at the church. Sam and I have been finding things to do and even though our roles are very different they are starting to come together.
We were able to help this homeless guy, Marcos (Sam mentioned him earlier). He went home on a bus two nights ago and we are waiting to hear from him. He spoke no English and yet I was still able to spend some time one on one with him working on my portuguese and getting to know his story. Pray that he got home safely and will be able to find some work near home.
